Why clients do not close contracts on Upwork
On reddit, I was going to post why clients do not close contracts on Upwork, but I decided to put it here on my site, because on piece of shit reddit, they don’t tell you how many characters you can type, and this is too long. So then I would have to try and figure out where to cut it, and do a Part 2, but then they could just delete my hard work anyway, because that’s what EVIL REDDIT DOES.
IT CENSORS AND CONTROLS!!! And I found out they control and censor NOT just Truthers either.

Note: Sorry for how long this is, and any typos or if things didn’t make sense, I haven’t been feeling well lately as they attack my brain. The evils have been attacking in several areas of the World, just so you know.
So, I happened to be in r/upwork and I saw this conversation going around about Why clients do not close contracts on Upwork.
I responded, and as usual, my response was along, so I’m turning my response into an article so it’s safe on my site. and this way I can pass it around on there to others asking the same question, assuming evil reddit don’t comment burn that too.
Freelancers are don’t know why the job market is drying up. This article isn’t about that, but maybe it is if the company was banned from Upwork.
Even if you have no idea what the freelance job market is like because you aren’t a freelancer or you don’t hire freelancers, this affects ALL of us in the WORLD. Our economy is ALL tied together, just like Humans are all tied energetically together and in the very fact that we are all HUMAN means we have a similarity.
For those of you new to my site, the evils are killing everyone all off and the rest they have already started to make into transHumans, so there won’t be full Humans anymore.
They are also killing off our entire Mother Earth and NO, not with the scam called climate change, but with everything else they are doing.
I won’t get into that now.
AND of course the evils are now rolling out their digital ID in more countries, in order to imprison us, and THEN we will have a one world government and live happily ever AFTER. SARCASM!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t know how many there are now, but the last time I looked, around 15 countries had the EVIL DIGITAL ID.
Ok, onto my response…
Starving freelancers and companies are NOT GOOD!
Solopreneurs, non profits, micro companies, small companies and I’m sure even medium companies can NOT survive without Staff/HELP! Loss of businesses means loss of work for you, and money flowing through the world.

No money flowing through the world will starve everyone eventually, because we ALL need one another even if we don’t know one another.
Now onto my response to the freelancer about why I didn’t close contracts on Upwork.
Nicely ask them to close the contract. The freelancers always tell me it does hurt the freelancer’s ranking, and I talked to Upwork about it back when they were a SANE company and didn’t start attacking clients like me. That started in 2023.
Upwork confirmed it does hurt the freelancer’s ranking.
For me, I always intended to close the contract, but here’s the reasons I wouldn’t.
- A lot of freelancers are only in it for a quick 5 star review and that’s it. If I didn’t give them a 5 star review, I would be harassed or guilted by the freelancer. I can’t stand freelancers who do that.Just because I don’t think the freelancer should get a 5 star review, doesn’t mean I don’t want to hire them again, unless they were really bad.I am NOT obligated to give someone 5 stars just because they want 5 stars. If they are great at communication, being responsible, and they do a great job, I would love nothing MORE than to give them 5 stars, but most don’t, and I’m not going to lie about my feedback just because we were nice to one another.
- I get too busy and forget to close the contract and rate the freelancer.
- I’m concerned they will trash me if I close it.I’ve been at this a long time, and some freelancers are spiteful and very very immature and toxic. Thank gawd most aren’t, but I’ve had issues with freelancers in the past, especially after the war started I started to notice that I was always having problems with Pakistanis. I don’t even want to hire Pakistanis anymore. That’s how much stress they put me through.Not all of the freelancers who behaved this way below, but many were Pakistani. All were from the third world, but as you will read, years ago when I could afford to pay more, I had issues with Canadian and American freelancers. Like I said, I’ve been at this a LONG TIME.
When some of these psychotic freelancers realize that I won’t give them a great review because they screwed up, then once I close the contract, they lie in their review of me. Supposedly how I’m sooo terrible even though they continued to work for me and didn’t call it quits, never discussed anything with me, etc. He just knew I wasn’t happy with his work, or he didn’t understand English and read the instructions which caused me to have a nightmare.
His review has no specifics or evidence, just hateful words.
They already know I’m going to tell everyone what they did and that’s why I don’t want to close it.
And yes, some clients get scammed by freelancers sometimes. Any freelancer who doesn’t know this, isn’t smart at all.
I notice how a lot of freelancers hate clients and they all gang together like it’s a witch hunt. They don’t do anything wrong, it’s ALWAYS the client who is at fault. sigh
I’ve read stories from other clients over the years and they hardly complain. Most clients would just take the loss and move on.
Saying that, some freelancers can also get scammed by a client. And NO, only staying on Upwork due to them brainwashing you that you can’t find any legit clients off of Upwork does not protect you, especially not now given what is going on.
I very briefly did freelance work back in 2012, and I was scammed twice LOL and I should have known better, but I’m a people pleaser unfortunately, so there’s that.
Plus I had never been a freelancer before, I’m an ex entrepreneur, netrepreneur, and now I run my non profit.
Just to show you a client’s side of the story, I once had a freelancer on Upwork who was so insane, he followed me all over the net posting lies about me in about 3 groups. Two were mine on Telegram, and he knew I was in on facebook because that was part of his task. They had to ban him there.
Then he got his friend to stalk me, and also write the freelancer’s response for our dispute. Each side has to make their case. I figured out it was the friend and not the psychopath when reading his English. I could tell it was MUCH BETTER than it had ever been while he was working for me.
I had to get Upwork to stop him and they barely cared. I was shocked that they didn’t care that a freelancer was doing this to someone and I got him from Upwork obviously.
I’m not blaming Upwork, I’m blaming them for not CARING. This was in 2023 when I still hadn’t seen the full true colors of Upwork. And since I had been with them for so long and for the most part, liked them, I didn’t realize how bad things were going to get.
I didn’t like their ticket or live chat tech support because they didn’t understand ENGLISH, but the phone support was much better.
More scams from freelancers – Many freelancers from one or two countries in particular don’t even do the work. You think you hired freelancer A, but when the work gets done, it’s done by someone else which is freelancer B, and maybe there’s even a C freelancer who jumps in to do the work causing all sorts of problems. No one hires a freelancer expecting someone ELSE to do the work. SMH
I don’t know the full details of that type of scam, I only figured it out when someone else who hires freelancers mentioned this scam and I remembered a couple of times over the years being confused by the person talking, and how one minute they understood me, and the next day he didn’t.
I almost NEVER give someone a 1 star review, but when they are crazies, YES, I will give them 1 star obviously.
I usually give 4 stars unless they were very bad, and then it probably goes down to 3 stars.
I would NEVER EVER lie about what happened in any of my reviews, not a company’s review or a freelancer’s. I actually spend a VERY long time on my reviews to tell a story. And especially if the freelancer was terrible, I would want to be very thorough in providing my evidence.
I NEVER just call someone names without an explanation. I see tons of fake reviews like that all over the net of companies, and yes, even with some freelancer reviews. They aren’t always fake reviews, they just name call and never provide their evidence.
Name calling is for children. I’m not a child and I don’t want to hire children.
I don’t lie, and I’m mature. I am not a sociopath or a psychopath, so I would never try to bring someone down like that.
Most of the time this only happens with people in third world countries because my budget is so low, but years ago I had problems with a Canadian graphic designer and a few Americans. They weren’t psychotic, but they were definitely not all there.
One American programmer, some web designer who screwed up my Google Adwords account and cost me a fortune, I have even had a few bookkeepers and accountants (they are very bad) who caused me problems. They would just disappear after the contract started or they did one thing and then ditched the whole rest of the project and I lost money.
Unless it’s a one time flat rate contract, all of my jobs are part time long term.
The worse thing a company (any size) or non profit like mine can do, is to constantly have to retrain staffers and it lowers moral. This is a fact. There are many workers who prefer making less money versus working in a toxic environment and making more money. Or they enjoy the work.
Having to rehire all the time costs money and wastes my time, so I don’t even want to hire freelancers who don’t want long term work.
Many of these “clients” aren’t real entrepreneurs either. They don’t know how to run a business even if they are nice.
- Or something happened to the client like I mentioned in my response to the OP, Upwork banned me in 2024 for being a Truther, and they lied, so if they lied about me, they will lie about anyone.This wasn’t 100% a surprise to me. In 2021/22 once I saw what they were doing, I knew it was only a matter of time.I don’t lie and play games. I speak the TRUTH after studying it. I’ve been awake since 2016. This is hard work and I take it soooo seriously that I do it for FREE!!!
Censorship is alive and well, and has been BIG TIME since the war started in March 2020, but even 5-10 years earlier I found out they were censoring REAL Truthers, obviously because they were speaking the Truth.
You don’t get banned for telling lies LOL
And even if you think what I’m saying is a lie, it’s your job to decide that, not someone else’s. Unless you like being controlled about what you learn and don’t learn.
I’ve been with Upwork since before they were Upwork, approximately since 2004 or thereabouts.
That’s a LONG TIME, and I never had problems with them before 2020, although I wasn’t a Truther back then, but still. A company is a company whether it makes a profit or not. I’m a REAL non profit, not the fake ones that are worth billions.
Things with Upwork really started to change in around 2023. Prior to that they were spreading the mainstream lies on their site. That’s all I needed to know to know that it was only a matter of time.
They control the whole freelance job market online. Do you know what kind of power that is?
Then they started raising the fees us clients had to pay so much so that I couldn’t even afford to pay this flat rate they added on after YEARS of only ever paying a percentage of what I pay you guys. That’s 5%. That was a reasonable fee to me and it used to be less. They raised it at some point, maybe after the war started, I can’t remember.
Then they added the fees for using a credit card or ACH. That was fine because it was a tiny flat rate for me (they make thousands even though it’s tiny, but then in 2024 (I think it was) they started charging a flat rate on top of the 5%.
If you are only hiring one freelancer, that’s ok, but if you are like me and hiring many all the time, I can’t afford that.
I work for FREE fighting in this war, I don’t have money to just throw away like that, but even if I was making money for a company to suddenly start charging MORE after all these years and they made a fortune during the scamdemic???
It started off at $3, then went upto $5, then $10, and I have no idea how much it is now. LOL,
Upwork always made TONS of money, they didn’t have to add that fee in there, let alone raise it up like that.
Also, most freelancers don’t know that they have been shadow banning hiring ads.
I figured that out in 2023/2024 when I saw a drop in how many freelancers were responding to my hiring ads. Plus they also raised how many connects a freelancer had to spend just to bid. It was WAY too much. That was another reason I wasn’t getting as many freelancers bidding.
I actually got confirmation on Reddit from a client who suspected something and did tests and figured out they were the shadow banning him, and he’s not even a Truther.
Shadow banning stops freelancers from seeing the clients’ hiring ads.
I suspected they are getting rid of all of the solopreneurs, small companies and non profits, and only keeping on the HUGE companies, so they can starve out us much smaller companies.
Obviously if we can’t hire we will close up shop. Some of us could be homeless if we don’t get help.
How many jobs are out there now for you guys?

Again, you would have to know the Truth to know why this is happening.

The only way to win this war is with US!
People can shirk their responsibility in all of this which is just cowardice, but every day you can always choose to REALLY wake UP and fight with a Warrior like me or someone else to Help Save Yourself, Humanity, and our Mother Earth. ACTION!
Truth, Spirituality (nothing to do with the psyop known a religion), shedding your childhood trauma, becoming a mature adult, and then taking responsibility for yourself HAS to be done.
I know it’s hard because the evils control us, but it HAS to be done. If we all start to do it, this war WILL BE OVER. We have the POWER to stop them, but you have to play your part.
The key is learning who you are with everything else stripped away. Truly look in the mirror.
Learn how to love and respect yourself and then help others. If we all help one another, that’s sharing the workload.
Build alternative communities based on FREEDOM and Truth. Do it together outside of the evils’ mafia governments. It’s the ONLY way.

Both parts have to be done AND people have to STOP WORSHIPING MONEY.
The evils use money as a WEAPON. Money shouldn’t be used to judge others by their WORTH. Anyone who thinks this way is controlled by the evils and is harming Humanity. Yes we need it in THEIR system, so that’s why you need to break FREE from their evil MATRIX.
This war can ONLY BE WON BY US, not some deity or Human. That’s where the psyop religion comes in – SALVATIONISM.
They want you to NEVER grow up and fight them. They want you waiting for someone or something ELSE to save you so they have free reign to kill us while you wait, wait again, wait some more until YOU ARE DEAD.

It’s when you don’t care and don’t work to rid yourself of them (this doesn’t happen overnight, it’s a work in progress) that I have a problem with that because you refusing to not do the work affects ALL of us, not just YOU.
